Let’s talk tech!

Warning: Your girl is about to come in HOT with some tech recommendations so prepare to take some notes!

Before the tech

Friend, I know that figuring out the best tech to support your business can be hard.

Partly because there are so many tech tools out there to choose from and partly because as a business owner, you have a lot to think about…let alone trying to establish where to start when it comes to choosing tech tools.

So I’m here to help!

But before we help you untangle your brain and help you pinpoint which tech tools are gonna #Werk for you, we need to go back a few steps.

First of all, you need to set an overall goal for yourself. What’s the one thing you want to achieve this quarter?

Then you need to establish what strategies you can use to achieve this goal.

From here you can identify the processes you’re going to use to help you achieve this goal and only then should you be thinking about tech!

So before you read any further, I want you to head on over to my last blog where I share with you my step-by-step process to choosing what process you need to work on to help you meet your goals!

Then once you’ve done that, you can click back over to this blog and start working on choosing the right tech for your biz.

It’s time to level up!!

The next steps

Okay, so now you’ve identified what processes are going to help you achieve your goal and you know what repeatable actions you’re going to be taking…we can start to think about creating a tech stack that is going to support you!

Start by looking at your process, look at what repeatable actions within this process you could automate, and start there.

You want to choose tools that can do this step for you and make your life easier!

You also want a tech tool to help keep you focused and organized in your business. We aren’t gonna let the ball drop over here. We’re here to make moves!

The stage you’re at in your business might influence the suitability of different tools, so before you pick the first tool that comes to mind, I’m gonna drop some recommendations below to get you started.

Tech recommendations

Each stage of growth in your business will have different priorities and different needs which will ultimately affect what systems and tools you need to invest in.

There are the 3 phases most businesses fall into…

  1. You’re building

You have little to no operations budget, are doing allll the things, and have no team. Your business is probably in its early stages. You need tech to support you that is easy to get to grips with and is free or requires very little investment!

Tech I’d recommend:

  • Asana/Monday (PM & CRM)
  • Mailer Lite/ SendInBlue
  • Panda Doc (invoicing)
  • Stripe
  • Wave
  • Meta Scheduler/Later
  • Google Drive
  1. You’re growing

You have a fully developed and profitable offer(s) which means you have more of a budget for operations. You have a small team of 1-3 people but are at capacity and it’s starting to hold you back. You need tech that keeps you and your team organized, saves time, and allows you space for more growth.

Tech I’d recommend:

  • ClickUp (PM & CRM)
  • Active Campaign /Convert Kit
  • Slack
  • Dubsado (workflows)
  • Wave
  • Smarter Que Scheduler
  • Google Workspace
  • Zapier / Integromat
  1. You’re scaling

You’re at the point where you now have a dedicated monthly budget for operations or hiring additional team members. You’re looking to start bringing everything together and streamline your business to make it more efficient.

Tech I’d recommend:

  • ClickUp Customized/ Notion
  • Active Campaign /Hub Spot
  • Slack
  • Trainual (for teams)
  • Upgrade Wave (payroll) or Quickbooks
  • Hootsuite/Sprout Social
  • Google Workspace + DropBox (videos)
  • Zapier

H2: Final tech tip

Before I round this blog off, I want to remind you that building a tech stack to support your business and goals is not a one-and-done job!

I strongly recommend auditing your tech every 6 months (or a year at the least) to ensure that your tech is working for you in the best way! Business can evolve quickly…so make your tech is growing with it!
